This tool models the cost, productivity, and quality impact of three radiography technologies: conventional film (RT), Computed Radiography (CR), and Digital Radiography (DR), including how PROtect's proprietary AI-enabled analysis and digital field reporting change each one.

To use it: start in Operating Assumptions and enter your own labor rates, crew volume, and equipment costs. From there, toggle AI Analysis and Digital Field Reporting on each technology panel to see time and cost shift live, then scroll through Time Breakdown, Results, Workforce, and Pricing Model for the full picture.

AI Analysis Price-Book Opportunity Capture 100% of automation value

Enable AI-Enabled Analysis on CR or DR to size a price-book opportunity for automated review.

Productivity

Quality & QA

  • ALARA / radiation safety: shorter exposure windows on CR/DR cut the time the source is active, supporting as-low-as-reasonably-achievable dose practice.
  • Retake risk: film defects only surface after chemical processing, often after the crew has left. CR/DR show the image right away, so retakes happen on site.
  • Regulatory note: some codes still require qualified human review regardless of AI capability. Confirm AI-assisted analysis meets your code and client acceptance criteria first.
05Staffing & incentives

Workforce & Incentives

Same annual demand, fewer crew-hours. What that means for staffing and incentives.

Managing the Transition: Time, Accountability & Incentives

Faster cycle times don't cut the number of inspections a customer needs. They cut the crew-hours it takes to deliver them. Capturing that gain takes two things:

  • Time & accountability oversight: confirming crews actually work at the faster pace instead of stretching the same shift with more idle time. That means real utilization tracking, not just clock-in/clock-out records.
  • A productivity incentive: a technician who works faster has little reason to unless some of that value comes back to them. The model below funds an incentive pool from the freed labor value, before counting the rest as savings.

06How PROtect gets paid

Pricing Model: From Time & Materials to Quality-Driven Output

Moving from billing raw hours to a fixed, contracted rate per inspection.

PROtect already charges for the technology itself. The AI analysis price-book opportunity above is one way that value gets captured today. Longer-term, PROtect wants to move away from time-and-materials billing, where revenue shrinks as crews get faster, toward a quality-driven, per-inspection model: a fixed rate per inspection, benchmarked against the customer's own historical spend, so the customer sees a clear contracted saving while PROtect gets paid for outcomes rather than hours.
